Legal Love is In the Air: Valentines Day for Law Nerds
Romantic-Sounding Case Law
In celebration of Valentines Day the hopeless romantics at Legal Blog Watch have launched a survey on the most romantic-sounding Supreme Court cases. My vote of course is for Loving v. Virginia. After all its about marriage, equality, and it inspired that ad campaign “Virginia is for Lovers“, right?
Not Cool as a Cucumber
Love, of a sort, is also in the air at Williams Mullen, the prominent Richmond-based firm. There, litigation partner Robert Eicher is in a bit of a pickle. He is facing a harassment suit for allegedly asking a case manager for a hug, which led to him pressing a cucumber concealed in his trousers against her in a, well, suggestive way…while he also may have made a racial comment about her genitalia. (heavens, where to start.) Get the nasty details from Above the Law and Style Weekly.
The Right Way Love Lawyers
And finally the lawyer ranking site AVVO offers a guide on How to Date a Lawyer.
Suggestion #6: Make love notes long and confusing:
Brevity and clarity make lawyers feel uncomfortable and agitated, much like normal people feel at the DMV. For example, don’t say, “Let’s head back home early for some fun.” Instead say, “Let’s return early to the domicile for some malfeasance.”
Happy Valentines Day.
May your holiday be malfeasant in the extreme.
