Live Blogging from INTA 2010 in Boston

INTA_PASS200This week over 8,000 trademark and copyright lawyers will come to Boston for the Annual Meeting of INTA, the International Trademark Association.  These are the people who both protect the worlds brands, and who litigate the issues which increasingly define the world of online marketing, entertainment, and digital publishing.

I’m shifting in to “live blogging” mode, which means an even sloppier style — but I’ll lace it with as much information and color commentary from sessions, receptions, and behind the scenes with sponsors and exhibitors. Here’s what’s ahead.

Interacting:

  • There will be a ton of Tweeting on the #INTABoston and #INTA2010 hashtags.
  • RSVP here for the  IP Tweetup Monday night, 5:30 – 7:30 at McCormick & Schmick’s in Faneuil Hall’s North Market Building.
  • Meet the Bloggers at one of my favorite Fort Point watering holes, Lucky’s on Fort Point Channel. It starts just after the Tweetup at 8pm at 355 Congress Street, Boston.

Sessions:
There’s an extensive program; here are some sessions I’m looking forward to:

  • A personal favorite, J. Scott Evans of Yahoo, will moderate a panel discussion on Domain Names, Ad Words and Acutions Sites.
  • You can also get a rare glimpse in to the adult content industry as four of their attorneys will be discussion IP and regulatory issues of adult websites.  I’ve covered an adult content IPO, and regulation of  pornography.
  • Numerous sessions on the best way to connect your firm’s legal and marketing agenda. The business world’s increased investment on brand equity, licensing, and digital marketing  puts legal and marketing deep in each others wheelhouses.
  • Protecting domain names. ICANN’s launch of new top level domains is on everyone’s minds, as well as changing best practices for protecting your digital rights.
  • The use of third party intellectual property in digital games. This could range from licensing music, to brands, to art works and landmarks that depict a location.
